Governor Koster:  Many Villa Entrepreneurs in Bali Secretly Don’t Pay Taxes
DENPASAR 9/5 (Atnews)—
Seriousness of Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster, in fixing various things in Bali received positive appreciation from the Head of the Directorate General of Tax (DGT) for Bali Regional Office, Goro Ekanto.
This was revealed at the hearing of the Head of the DGT for Bali Regional Office, Goro Ekanto, with Governor Koster at the office of Bali Governor in Denpasar on Thursday (May 9).
Head of the DGT for Bali Regional Office, Goro Ekanto, said that Governor Wayan Koster’s effort to make business people obey the rules as done in the tourism sector had an impact on increasing tax compliance. “If it’s obedient to the rules, then the tax must be good,” he said.
In the future, Goro hoped to establish a partnership with the Bali provincial government to obtain data on foreign nationals doing business in Bali. “This is also for justice, so that tax payment is not just chased to local people,” he said.
Governor Wayan Koster said that currently there are around 17,000 foreign workers that can become tax potential. In addition, there are many businesses such as villas that quietly do not pay taxes.
“In fact, many Balinese people are taken advantage by foreigners to be able to run a business. However, when the business stops, all assets are taken out, while all the problems are left to local partners,” he regretted the current phenomenon.
This former member of the Budgetary Agency at Central House of Representatives is committed to increasing compliance with regulations including tax compliance in Bali. According to him, tax is important to finance the development enjoyed by the community.
Governor Koster also hoped that in the future business people that win tenders in Bali will have a Bali taxpayer identity number or NPWP.
Previously, the Head of DGT for Bali Regional Office, Goro Ekanto, also revealed that the growth of tax revenue in Bali increased last year, above the national average. (*/ika)
